In this week’s study from Tehillim / Psalms 84:1-12, the Psalm opens saying, For the director of music. According to gittith. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. The Sons of Korah narrate this psalm, what is the purpose of the words lemnatzakh hagitit? The psalm continues saying, 84:1 How lovely are Your dwelling places, O Lord of hosts! 84:2 My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. (NASB) The Sons of Korah did not participate in the temple service, was this why they yearned for the dwelling places, and the courts of the Lord? The psalm continues saying, 84:3 The bird also has found a house, And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts, My King and my God. (NASB) Why would the psalmist say the bird lays her nest/young on the altar of the Lord? Read more here:  Tehillim 84-Part1
