This week’s study is from Tehillim / Psalms 59:1-17, the psalm opens saying, For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when Saul sent men and they watched the house in order to kill him. (NASB)  David seeks the Lord saying, 59:1 Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; Set me securely on high away from those who rise up against me. 59:2 Deliver me from those who do iniquity And save me from men of bloodshed. (NASB)  Those who work iniquity, set traps for the life of the righteous and attack for no reason (59:3).  David claims he is not guilty saying, 59:4 For no guilt of mine, they run and set themselves against me. Arouse Yourself to help me, and see! 59:5 You, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, Awake to punish all the nations; Do not be gracious to any who are treacherous in iniquity. Selah. (NASB)  He describes the wicked as those who howl as dogs (59:6) and who use there words like swords in their lips (59:7).  The Lord laughs at the nations (59:8), and David sees the Lord as his strength (59:9), in His mercy He lets him look upon his enemies with triumph (59:10), and he asks the Lord to bring down the nations in a way so it is not forgotten (59:11).
