This week’s study is from Tehillim / Psalms 16:1-11, The Psalm begins saying א מִכְתָּם לְדָוִד שָׁמְרֵנִי אֵל כִּי-חָסִיתִי בָךְ: “A Mikhtam of David. 16:1 Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You.” This is very similar to Tehillim / Psalms 11 that states “For the choir director a Psalm of David, in the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to my soul flee as a bird to your mountain” (א לַמְנַצֵּחַ לְדָוִד בַּיהֹוָה | חָסִיתִי אֵיךְ תֹּאמְרוּ לְנַפְשִׁי נוּדִו [נוּדִי] הַרְכֶם צִפּוֹר:). David confesses before the Lord saying 16:2 I said to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord; I have no good besides You.’ (NASB) This is a way of saying all good things come from the Lord. 16:3 As for the saints who are in the earth, They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight. (NASB) He then contrasts those who worship other gods, their sorrows will be multiplied David says “16:5 The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot.” ה יְהוָה מְנָת-חֶלְקִי וְכוֹסִי אַתָּה תּוֹמִיךְ גּוֹרָלִי: and the Lord is his heritage and that is beautiful to him. Read More Here: Tehillim 16-Part1
