Revelation 19:15
Revelation 19:15
19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (KJV)
In Revelation 19:15, the imagery of a sword coming out of the mouth obviously symbolizes the power and authority of the spoken word. This parallels the concept of the Word of God in the Torah, where the divine word is seen as the ultimate authority, the creative force, the power of God! Based upon the scriptures, the Torah is considered the direct word of God given to Moses at Sinai. The parallel lies in the idea that both the Torah and the Word of God in Revelation represent divine truth and justice, capable of discerning right from wrong and executing judgment. The sword from the mouth in Revelation is a metaphor for the decisive and penetrating nature of God’s word, which is a common theme throughout the scriptures, emphasizing the power of the Word of God to judge and strike the nations. The Torah has not passed away!
