Matthew 6:2

Matthew 6:2
6:2 “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. (NASB)

There are parallels in the Torah that emphasize the importance of humility (Matthew 6:2)and sincerity in giving. One relevant passage is Deuteronomy 15:7-8. This passage encourages generosity and compassion without seeking recognition or praise. The focus is on the act of giving itself, rather than on the public acknowledgment of the giver. Both the Torah and the New Testament emphasize the importance of humility in acts of charity. By giving without seeking recognition, individuals demonstrate a heart aligned with God’s values of compassion and selflessness. These parallels highlight the timeless and universal principles of humility, generosity, and sincerity that are central to both the Torah and the teachings of Jesus. They remind us of the power of God to transform hearts and the importance of living out our faith with integrity and compassion. Note this is how Yeshua taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
