1 Corinthians 14:20
1 Corinthians 14:20
14:20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. (KJV)
Here Paul says that we are not to be like children in our understanding. (1 Corinthians 14:20) In the Torah, there are passages that convey a similar message of seeking wisdom and maturity in understanding. For example, in Deuteronomy 4:6 we are instructed on the importance of wisdom and understanding in following God’s commandments. In Deuteronomy 6:6-7 we are instructed on the importance of diligently teaching and understanding God’s commandments to our family. In addition, in the Tanakh we read in Proverbs 4:7 “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.” These passages from the Torah parallel the message in 1 Corinthians 14:20 by encouraging believers to seek wisdom and maturity in their understanding while maintaining innocence regarding evil. This is how Paul was teaching Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
