Luke 10:28
כח אָמַר לוֹ יֵשׁוּעַ׃ ״יָפֶה עָנִיתָ, עֲשֵׂה זֹאת וְתִחְיֶה.״
Luke 10:28
10:28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE.” (NASB)
There are several passages in the Torah that parallel the concept Yeshua taught “Do this put God first and live” according to Luke 10:28. For example, Deuteronomy 6:4-5, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” This Shema prayer emphasizes the centrality of God in one’s life, calling for complete devotion. In addition, Moshe says in Deuteronomy 30:19-20 emphasizing the importance of choosing to follow God’s commands as a means of truly living. Exodus 20:3 also says, “You shall have no other gods before me.” This first commandment from the Ten Commandments emphasizes the priority of placing God above all else. These scriptures reflect the fundamental Torah principle of prioritizing one’s relationship with God, which aligns closely with the NT call in Luke 10:28 to “do this and live.” This is how Yeshua taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
