1 Peter 3:8
1 Peter 3:8
3:8 To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; (NASB)
There are several concepts in the Torah that echo the sentiments expressed in 1 Peter 3:8. For example, the concept of unity and love among brethren is a recurring theme in the Torah. Leviticus 19:18 states: “You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.” In addition, the Torah frequently emphasizes the importance of compassion, especially towards the less fortunate. For example, Deuteronomy 15:7-8 instructs: “If there is among you a poor man of one of your brothers within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother. But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he lacks.” Humility is also a valued trait in the Torah. Numbers 12:3 describes Moses, the author of the Torah, as “very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.” These examples demonstrate that Peter was teaching Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
