The Torah contains several passages that align with the principle in 1 Corinthians 10:24, which encourages selflessness and prioritizing the well-being of others over personal gain. One strong parallel is found in Leviticus 19:9-10, where God commands Israel to leave the edges of their fields and the gleanings of their harvest for the poor and the stranger. This teaches generosity and discourages hoarding wealth solely for oneself and also provides for the needy. Note also that the needy have to work to eat, if one does not work one does not eat! Another relevant passage is found in Deuteronomy 15:7-8, which instructs us to open their hands freely to our needy brothers and not harden their hearts when someone is in need. This reflects the idea that wealth should be used to uplift others rather than selfishly accumulated. Exodus 22:25 also warns against charging excessive interest when lending to the poor, reinforcing the idea that financial dealings should be fair and considerate rather than exploitative. This is how Paul and the NT teaches Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
