1 Timothy 1:19
1:19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. (NASB)

1 Timothy 3:9
3:9 but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. (NASB)

The Torah is rich with passages that emphasize the importance of holding onto faith and traditions, much like the concepts expressed in 1 Timothy 1:19 and 3:9. The idea of steadfastness in faith and maintaining a good conscience is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Five Books of Moses. One of the most significant parallels can be found in Deuteronomy 6:4-9, known as the Shema: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” This passage underscores the importance of internalizing God’s commandments, teaching, this is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
