Romans 12:13
 יג תְּנוּ אֶת חֶלְקְכֶם לְצָרְכֵי הַקְּדוֹשִׁים וְשַׁאֲפוּ לְהַכְנִיס אוֹרְחִים.

The Torah contains several parallels to the concept of giving to the needy, as mentioned in Romans 12:13, which encourages believers to “distribute to the necessity of saints” and to be “given to hospitality.” The Torah emphasizes generosity, charity, and caring for those in need as fundamental aspects of the community’s ethical and spiritual obligations. Leviticus 19:9-10 instructs landowners to leave a portion of their harvest for the poor and the stranger, ensuring that those in need have access to food. In Deuteronomy 15:7-8 we read about the emphasis on the importance of being generous and open-handed towards those in need, encouraging the provision of sufficient help without hesitation. In Deuteronomy 15:10-11, we read about the importance of giving being done willingly and cheerfully, with the assurance of God’s blessing in return. These verses acknowledge the ongoing presence of poverty and the perpetual need for generosity and support within the community. These passages from the Torah align with Paul’s teaching in Romans 12:13, which encourages believers to share with those in need and practice hospitality. Note the NT is consistent with the Torah, this is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
