Matthew 10:42

The concept of giving to and caring for those in need, including “little ones,” is deeply rooted in the Torah. For example, in Deuteronomy 15:7-11, we find instructions on generosity and providing for the poor, “If there is a poor person among you, any of your brothers in any of your towns in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor close your hand from your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.” We also read in Deuteronomy 15:10-11 “You shall generously give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all your undertakings. For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land.’” These verses underscore the importance of compassion and generosity toward those in need, much like the teaching in Matthew 10:42, where even giving a cup of cold water to one of the “little ones” is seen as a significant act of kindness and service. Both the Torah and the New Testament emphasize the value of caring for the vulnerable and needy, reflecting a consistent theme of mercy and generosity that transcends time. By drawing from these teachings, we can strive to embody these values in our everyday lives. This is how Yeshua Taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
