Matthew 7:6
The Torah contains parallels to the concept of not giving holy things to rebels, as seen in Matthew 7:6, which states, “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” The Torah emphasizes the sanctity of holy objects and practices, as well as the necessity of maintaining their purity by not allowing what is holy to be profaned by the rebellious. In Leviticus 22:10 we read, “There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.” This commandment ensures that only those who are consecrated and part of the priestly family can partake in holy offerings, preventing the profanation of sacred items by those who have not dedicated their lives to the Lord. Numbers 3:38 emphasizes the responsibility of the priests to guard the sanctuary, ensuring that unauthorized persons do not defile the holy place. Note how in the NT we are called priests and kings and how our bodies function as a dwelling place of God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). In Leviticus 24:15-16 we are told about the severe consequences of profaning God’s name, reflecting the seriousness with which holy matters are to be treated. These passages from the Torah align with the teaching in Matthew 7:6 about not giving holy things to those who would disrespect or profane them. We note the consistent message throughout the scriptures highlights the need to be reverent, respectful, and obedient to God and His Word. This is how Yeshua taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
