Luke 6:38
6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” (NASB)

Luke 6:38

The Torah does contain passages that emphasize fairness and generosity in giving, which parallel the concept of “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over” found in Luke 6:38. For example, in Leviticus 19:35-36 we read, “You shall do no wrong in judgment, in measurement of length, weight, or quantity. You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.” This passage emphasizes the importance of honesty and fairness in measurements, ensuring that what you give is just and accurate. Also, in Deuteronomy 25:13-16 we read, “You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a large and a small. You shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small. You shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure, that your days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to the Lord your God.” These verses stress the importance of using honest and fair measures, reflecting the principle of giving generously and justly. Notice how these passages align with the idea of giving a good measure, ensuring fairness and integrity in all dealings according to the NT text. The NT is always consistent with the Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
