2 Timothy 2:22

The Torah contains many teachings that parallel the NT concept of following love like Paul taught in 1 Cor. 14:1, 1 Tim. 6:11, and 2 Tim. 2:22. The Shema and Loving God (Deuteronomy 6:4-5), this passage emphasizes the foundational command to love God with all one’s heart, soul, and strength. Another example is to love your neighbor (Leviticus 19:18), this commandment instructs us to love their neighbors as themselves, a principle that Yeshua cites as one of the greatest commandments. Caring for the Stranger (Leviticus 19:33-34) is another Torah example, which emphasizes the importance of loving and treating strangers with kindness, reflecting a broader application of love beyond just the community. We are also commanded to do Justice and Love (Deuteronomy 10:18-19) which is illustrated in God’s love for the vulnerable and how we are commanded to emulate this love by caring for the vulnerable. These Torah passages demonstrate the importance of love as a guiding principle in relationships with God, neighbors, and strangers. This aligns with the NT exhortations to pursue love, emphasizing that true faith is expressed through loving actions and attitudes. This is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
