The Shema according to Deuteronomy 10:12-13 also sums up the relationship between fearing God and obedience: “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?” These Torah passages parallel the NT teachings (Matt. 10:23; Luke 12:5; 1 Peter 2:17; Rev. 14:7) where fearing God is linked to reverence, obedience, and living a righteous life. These passages collectively underscore the continuity and importance of fearing God across both the Old and New Testaments, emphasizing reverence, obedience, and worship as central to a righteous life. This is how Yeshua, John, and Peter taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
