2 Timothy 2:3
ג הִשְׁתַּתֵּף בַּסֵּבֶל כְּחַיָּל טוֹב שֶׁל הַמָּשִׁיחַ יֵשׁוּעַ.
2 Timothy 2:3
2:3 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. (NASB)
The Torah emphasizes the importance of enduring hardships and remaining faithful to God, which parallels the concept of enduring hardness mentioned in 2 Timothy 2:3. For example, in Exodus 1:13-14 “The Egyptians worked the Israelites ruthlessly and made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor, the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.” This passage describes the severe oppression of the Israelites in Egypt. Despite the intense hardships, their faith and endurance ultimately led to their deliverance by God. In Deuteronomy 8:2-3 the Israelites endured the harsh conditions of the wilderness, which served to test and strengthen their faith and reliance on God. In Genesis 22:1-2 Abraham faced the severe test of faith in being asked to sacrifice his son Isaac, illustrating the endurance and trust required to follow God’s commands, even in the hardest trials. In Numbers 14:22-23 the journey of the Israelites in the wilderness was marked by numerous hardships and tests of faith, highlighting the importance of perseverance in the face of trials. Notice how what Paul is teaching parallels the Torah, this is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
