1 Timothy 1:4

1 Timothy 1:4
1:4 nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith. (NASB)

There are parallels in the Torah that emphasize the importance of adhering to God’s commandments and teachings, rather than giving heed to fables (1 Timothy 1:4) or being led astray by falsehoods or empty distractions. For example, in Deuteronomy 13:1-4 we are warned against listening to prophets or dreamers who lead people away from God, emphasizing the importance of staying true to God’s commandments. In addition, Exodus 23:13 emphasizes the need to focus on God’s commands and avoid being influenced by other deities or the mythology that is associated with them. Leviticus 19:31 states we are not to seek guidance from mediums and necromancers, highlighting the importance of relying solely on God’s wisdom and guidance. These passages from the Torah stress the significance of adhering to God’s commandments and avoiding distractions or false teachings that could lead believers astray very similar to what we read in 1 Timothy 1:4. This is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
