2 Peter 3:8
2 Peter 3:8
3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (KJV)
Here in 2 Peter 3:8, Peter is teaching us not to be ignorant of space-time in relation to how God sees time and space. Meaning that God is not bothered by the passage of time! In the Tanakh and the Torah, there are passages that convey a similar understanding of God’s timeless nature. For example, in Psalm 90:4 we are told about God’s perception of time and is closely related to the concept in 2 Peter 3:8. In Genesis 1:1 we are introduced to the concept of God existing before time as we know it, highlighting His eternal nature. In Exodus 3:14 we are told about the eternal and unchanging nature of God which transcends human understanding. These passages from the Torah and related scriptures highlight the timeless nature of God, paralleling the message in 2 Peter 3:8. This is how Peter was teaching Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
