1 Peter 3:14
1 Peter 3:14
3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; (KJV)
Peter speaks of suffering for what is right and states “Be Not Afraid of Terror” in 1 Peter 3:14. In the Torah, there are several passages that convey a similar message of not fearing threats or terror. For example, in Deuteronomy 31:6 Moses encourages the people to be strong and courageous, assuring them that God is with them, and they should not be afraid. In Deuteronomy 20:1 we are reassured that we should not fear our enemies since God is with us and will protect us. In Numbers 14:9, the emphasis is upon the importance of trusting in God’s protection and not being afraid of the people in the land. Note how these passages from the Torah parallel the message in 1 Peter 3:14 by encouraging believers to trust in God’s presence and protection, and not to be afraid of threats or terror. This is how Peter taught Torah; the Torah has not passed away!
