1 Corinthians 12:31
1 Corinthians 12:31
12:31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way. (NASB)
We do find a Torah parallel to the NT concept of “Covet the Best Gifts of the spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:31) According to Exodus 31:1-11, we see a parallel to the concept of coveting the best gifts. God appoints Bezalel and Oholiab, filling them with the Spirit of God, wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all kinds of craftsmanship to create the Tabernacle. This highlights the value and divine origin of exceptional skills and gifts used for God’s purposes. The Torah underscores that these gifts and talents are divinely given and should be used in service to God and the community, much like the NT concept of desiring and utilizing the best spiritual gifts for the edification of believers. It showcases the importance of recognizing and cherishing the unique gifts bestowed by God, using them faithfully in alignment with His will. This is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
