Hebrews 3:1
Hebrews 3:1
3:1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession; (NASB)
Hebrews 12:3
12:3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (NASB)
There are themes in the Torah that resonate with the concept of considering the Messiah, as highlighted in Hebrews 3:1 and 12:3. For example, Deuteronomy 18:15 “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.” This verse refers to a future prophet, seen by many as a Messianic prophecy, urging the people to listen and follow. These passages encourage contemplation of the promised figure who would lead and guide, laying a foundation for later Messianic expectations. They align with the call in Hebrews to fix one’s thoughts on the Messiah. Note this is how the book of Hebrews teaches Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
