Luke 12:27-28
Luke 12:27–28
12:27 “Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 12:28 “But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith! (NASB)
There are parallels in the Torah that reflect the concept of trusting in God’s provision, similar to the message in Luke 12:27-28 about the metaphor Consider the Lilies. For example, in Deuteronomy 8:3 “He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” In Psalm 37:25 “I have been young, and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.” And in Psalm 23:1: “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” These verses emphasize the idea that God provides for His people and that they should trust in His care and provision, just as Yeshua encourages in Luke 12:27-28. Yeshua was teaching Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
