Luke 12:15

Luke 12:15
12:15 Then He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.” (NASB)

Yeshua says beware of Covetousness (Luke 12:15) because he is teaching a Torah parallel. The Torah actually addresses the issue of covetousness and emphasizes the importance of contentment and integrity. In Exodus 20:17 the Tenth Commandment explicitly prohibits coveting: “You shall not covet…” This commandment highlights the importance of being content with what one has and not desiring what belongs to others. These passages from the Torah emphasize the need to avoid covetousness and to be content with what one has. Similarly, in Luke 12:15, Yeshua is teaching Torah warning to beware of covetousness, teaching that a person’s life does not consist in the abundance of their possessions. The Torah has not passed away.
