Mark 1:15
טו ״מָלְאָה הָעֵת וּקְרֵבָה מַלְכוּת אֱלֹהִים! שׁוּבוּ בִּתְשׁוּבָה וְהַאֲמִינוּ בַּבְּשׂוֹרָה!״
Mark 1:15
1:15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” (NASB)
In Mark 1:15 we are commanded to believe the gospel. There are several passages in the Torah that emphasize the importance of faith and obedience to God’s word, which parallels Mark 1:15. For example, Genesis 15:6 states, “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” This verse highlights Abraham’s faith in God, which was credited to him as righteousness. Exodus 14:31 states, “And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.” This verse emphasizes the Israelites’ belief in God and His servant Moses after witnessing the miracles performed during the Exodus. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 and Deuteronomy 30:19-20 underscores the importance of loving and believing in God with all one’s heart, soul, and might, and to cleave to God. These verses collectively highlight the importance of faith and obedience to God’s word, much like the call to believe the gospel in Mark 1:15. The Torah has not passed away!
