Revelation 3:19
יט אֲנִי אֶת אֲשֶׁר אֹהַב אוֹכִיחַ וַאֲיַסֵּר. לָכֵן הֱיֵה נִמְרָץ וַחֲזֹר בִּתְשׁוּבָה.
Revelation 3:19
3:19 ‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. (NASB)
The concept of being zealous and repenting, as mentioned in Revelation 3:19, is indeed present in the Torah. In the Torah, the concept of repentance is known as Teshuvah, which means “return” in Hebrew. This concept is foundational to the Torah in our relationship with God and others. To be zealous, an example is provided from Phinehas, the grandson of Aaron, who is described as being zealous for God’s honor (Numbers 25:11). His zealous action in executing an Israelite man and Midianite woman who were defying God’s commandments stopped a plague and was rewarded by God with a covenant of peace and an everlasting priesthood (Numbers 25:12-13). The Book of Revelation is teaching a Torah concept, the Torah has not passed away!
