Romans 12:2
Romans 12:2
12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (NASB)
Paul teaches that we are to be transformed so that we can serve the Lord according to Romans 12:2. The concept of being transformed for the glory of God is a profound one and can be found in various forms throughout the Torah and other Jewish texts. One of the most significant instances is in Exodus 33:18, where Moses asks God to “Show me now Your glory!” This request by Moses is seen as a desire to understand and experience the divine presence more fully. In response, God reveals His goodness but also states that no one can see His face and live. This interaction suggests a transformative encounter with God that brings about a deeper understanding and relationship with God. The transformation for the glory of God can also be understood in terms of personal and communal growth in righteousness, holiness, and obedience to God’s commandments. The Torah teaches that humans are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and living in accordance with His commandments is a way of reflecting His glory. The Torah has not passed away!
