Matthew 5:48
מח לָכֵן הֱיוּ שְׁלֵמִים, כְּמוֹ שֶׁאֲבִיכֶם שֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִם שָׁלֵם הוּא.

Matthew 5:48
5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (KJV)

Note here in Matthew 5:48 how Yeshua is teaching Torah when he says be “tamim” (תָּמִים) perfect because our Father in heaven is perfect. This is derived from Deuteronomy 18:13 where Moshe instructs the people to be tamim (perfect) with God. Here, “tamim” means to be wholeheartedly committed to God, mature in faith, and secure in our covenant relationship with Him. The concept of being “tamim” (תָּמִים) carries a rich and nuanced meaning which involves more than mere perfection; it encompasses spiritual maturity, integrity, and a wholehearted commitment to God. Yeshua says that we are to seek this completeness in our walk with God because the Torah has not passed away!
