Luke 12:29
כט גַּם אַתֶּם, אַל תִּהְיוּ שׁוֹאֲלִים מַה תֹּאכְלוּ וּמַה תִּשְׁתּוּ, וְאַל תִּהְיוּ דּוֹאֲגִים.
Luke 12:29
12:29 “And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. (NASB)
There are parallels in the Torah to the concept of not being of a doubtful mind, as mentioned in Luke 12:29. The Torah emphasizes the importance of trust in God and discourages doubt. For instance, in the book of Deuteronomy, Moses repeatedly encourages the Israelites to trust in God’s providence and not to doubt. In Deuteronomy 8:3, it is written, “He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” This verse suggests that one should not be of a doubtful mind but should trust in God’s provision. Similarly, in Numbers 3-14, the story of the spies sent to scout the land of Canaan serves as a cautionary tale against doubt. This is how Luke was teaching Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
