2 Peter 3:2
2 Peter 3:2
3:2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. (NASB)
The concept of being mindful of prophecies and commandments (2 Peter 3:2) is indeed present in the Torah. For example, the Jewish sages teach that the ten commandments are the cornerstone of all the 613 commandments of the Torah. What they claim is that these ten commandments can be expanded to represent all of the 613. This illustrates the importance of being mindful of these commandments as they form the basis of all other commandments in the Torah. Also, there is the concept that love is the underlying principle of all the Torah commands. The Shema is an example (Deuteronomy 6:4-10). Yeshua also taught that being mindful of the commandments is linked to the concept of love of God and of people. (Mark 12:29-31) All of these things illustrate how Peter was teaching Torah in 2 Peter 3:2. The Torah has not passed away!
