Matthew 10:16

Matthew 10:16
10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. (KJV)

Here in Matthew 10:16 Yeshua commands us to be Harmless as doves. While the Torah does not explicitly state, “Be harmless as doves,” it does contain principles and commandments that guide us toward ethical behavior, compassion, humility, and harmlessness. Let’s explore a few relevant concepts: Confession and Repentance, when a person transgresses a commandment, whether intentionally or inadvertently, the Torah mandates verbal confession before God. This confession is an essential part of repentance. By openly admitting our wrongs, we acknowledge our imperfections and seek forgiveness. Repentance (teshuva) involves heartfelt regret for our actions. This process aligns with the idea of being harmless—acknowledging our wrongs and striving for change. The Torah requires verbal confession and genuine remorse and putting action to words. Yeshua’s command is based on these same principles given to us from the Torah. The Torah has not passed away!
