Luke 3:14

Luke 3:14
3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. (KJV)

Here in Luke 3:14, Yeshua states that we are to be content with our wages. We note that the Torah provides clear guidance regarding fair treatment of workers and payment of wages. The Torah emphasizes prompt payment to workers. It states: Deuteronomy 24:14: “You shall not defraud a poor and destitute laborer, whether a fellow countryman or a stranger in one of the communities of your land.” Deuteronomy 24:15: “You must pay him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets, for he is poor and urgently depends on it; else he will cry to HaShem against you and you will incur guilt.” The Torah prohibits oppressing hired workers, especially those who are poor and vulnerable. This includes timely payment and fair treatment (Leviticus 19:13, 24:14-15). The Torah commands us to treat workers justly, pay them promptly, and avoid oppressing those who depend on their wages. Being content with one’s wages involves both fair compensation and ethical behavior.
