2 Timothy 2:24
2 Timothy 2:24
2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, (KJV)
Here Paul speaks of being apt to teach according to 2 Timothy 2:24. This concept aligns with the Torah’s emphasis on the importance of teaching and imparting wisdom. For example, in Deuteronomy 6:7, the Shema commands us to teach the words of the Torah diligently to one’s children. This reflects the importance of being capable and ready to teach. Additionally, the Torah describes Moses as a teacher to the Israelites, providing guidance and instruction in the ways of God’s commandments. Moses’ role in educating the people in the laws and statutes is a foundational example of being “apt to teach” within the Jewish tradition. This concept is also reflected in the role of the Levites, who were set apart to assist the priests and had responsibilities in teaching the law to the people (Leviticus 10:11 and Deuteronomy 33:10). Note again this is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
