1 Timothy 4:12

1 Timothy 4:12
4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (KJV)

In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul instructs Timothy to be an example for other believers “in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” This concept of setting an example for others is also present in the Torah. One notable parallel is found in the book of Deuteronomy, which contains Moshe’s instructions to the Israelites before they enter the Promised Land. In Deuteronomy 4:5-6, Moshe says, “See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it. Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’” Here, the Israelites are called to be an example to other nations through their obedience to God’s laws. This is how Paul taught Torah! The Torah has not passed away!
