1 Corinthians 15:34

1 Corinthians 15:34
15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. (KJV)

Here in 1 Corinthians 15:34 Paul underscores the significance of following God’s commandments, living by them, and recognizing the righteousness found in obedience. The idea of awaking to righteousness is synonymous to turning from sin. This is the purpose of the Torah (teaching and instructions) which is to guide us toward maturity and faith. When Torah is violated out of disrespect or defiant disobedience, discipline follows. However, when we desire to follow the instructions of God out of loving obedience we are commended by God. The Torah fosters teaching and growth, emphasizing the relationship between the heavenly Father and His children and this is why Paul calls us to Awake to righteousness (1 Cor 15:34), the Torah has not passed away!
