4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. (NASB)
We note here the Greek text on 1 John 3:4 states that the one who practices sin is anomia. This means that he or she is without the Torah. The basic conclusion is that Sin is a violation of the Torah, because the Torah defines both righteousness and unrighteousness, obedience and disobedience, etc. The basic conclusion is that we are to practice righteousness, this means we are to obey the commands of God. The Torah has not passed away.
