Bits of Torah Truths – Through the Torah, the Messiah’s Grace was Made Known – Episode 30
John 1:17
John 1:17
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Here in John 1:17 we read something very significant. The Torah is the foundation of Jewish faith and is considered the most important document in Judaism. The Torah contains the laws and teachings that God gave to Moshe on Mount Sinai. The Messiah is also a central figure in Jewish tradition and is believed to be a descendant of King David. We note that Yeshua meets this criterion. In fact, it is through the teachings and actions of the Messiah in his obedience to the Torah that reveals to us God’s grace and mercy. This is how John could write that grace came through Yeshua the Christ!
