1 John 3:24
כד הַשּׁוֹמֵר אֶת מִצְווֹת אֱלֹהִים שׁוֹכֵן בֵּאלֹהִים וֵאלֹהִים בּוֹ. וּבָזֹאת נֵדַע שֶׁהוּא שׁוֹכֵן בָּנוּ׃ בָּרוּחַ אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לָנוּ.
1 John 3:24
24 And the one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And we know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. (NASB)
Note here the use of the Hebrew words, here the word עוֹמֵד is note used, which has the sense of standing in, instead the word שׁוֹכֵן is used which has the sense of dwelling in. John states very clearly here in 1 John 3:24 that to dwell / abide in the Messiah we are to keep God’s commandments. This again is so important for God’s people that John repeats this over and over here in his epistle. Walk in the footsteps of the Messiah, obey God’s commands! The Torah has not passed away!
