John 7:45–49
מה אַחֲרֵי כֵן חָזְרוּ הַמְשָׁרְתִים אֶל רָאשֵׁי הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַפְּרוּשִׁים וְאֵלֶּה שָׁאֲלוּ אוֹתָם׃ ״מַדּוּעַ לֹא הֲבֵאתֶם אוֹתוֹ?״ מו הֵשִׁיבוּ הַמְשָׁרְתִים׃ ״מֵעוֹלָם לֹא דִּבֵּר אִישׁ כְּמוֹ שֶׁמְּדַבֵּר הָאִישׁ הַזֶּה.״ מז אָמְרוּ הַפְּרוּשִׁים׃ ״הַאִם גַּם אַתֶּם הֻתְעֵיתֶם? מח כְּלוּם הֶאֱמִין בּוֹ מִישֶׁהוּ מֵהַמַּנְהִיגִים אוֹ מֵהַפְּרוּשִׁים? מט אַךְ הֶהָמוֹן הַזֶּה, שֶׁאֵינָם יוֹדְעִים אֶת הַתּוֹרָה, אֲרוּרִים הֵם!״
John 7:45–49
45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? 46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. 47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? 49 But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. (KJV)
Here according to John 7:49 the NT text provides an early interpretation on the place of the Torah in the lives of the people. It is believed that those who do not know Torah are accursed.
