Hebrews 12:21
כא וְהַמַּרְאֶה הָיָה נוֹרָא מְאֹד עַד כִּי מֹשֶׁה אָמַר, ״יָרֵא אֲנִי וְחָרֵד.״ (דברים ט׳ יט׳)
Hebrews 12:21
21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “I am full of fear and trembling.”
Deuteronomy 9:19
19 “For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the Lord was wrathful against you in order to destroy you, but the Lord listened to me that time also. (NASB)
Here in Hebrews 12:21 the author quoted from Deuteronomy 9:19 to help provide context for the promised Messiah and the mercy of God. We noted here from Deuteronomy how Moshe intercedes for Israel and God in His grace and mercy forgave Israel’s sin. In the parallel fashion we receive forgiveness of sins in the Messiah of God. The Torah sets the groundwork for understanding the work of the Messiah. The Torah had not passed away!
