James 2:11
James 2:11
11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not commit murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. (NASB)
Exodus 20:13–14
13 “You shall not murder. 14 “You shall not commit adultery. (NASB) Deuteronomy 5:17–18 17 ‘You shall not murder. 18 ‘You shall not commit adultery. (NASB)
Here we read in James 2:11, how he (James) quotes from the Torah according to Exodus 20:13-14 and Deuteronomy 5:17-18 in regard to murder and adultery. What is interesting is how James draws on the Torah as a proof text for these things and in doing so demonstrates that the Torah has not passed away.
