Hebrews 12:20
20 For they could not bear the command, โIf even a beast touches the mountain, it will be stoned.โ (NASB)
Exodus 19:12โ13
12 โAnd you shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, โBeware that you do not go up on the mountain or touch the border of it; whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death. 13 โNo hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether beast or man, he shall not live.โ When the ramโs horn sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain.โ (NASB)
Here in Hebrews 12:20 the author of Hebrews quotes from Exodus 19:12-13 demonstrating for us how not knowing what the Torah states we would not be able to understand the New Covenant in the Messiah Yeshua. The point is that the Torah is vital for our understanding of the NT text and so again, the Torah has not passed away!
