Hebrews 7:17
יז הֵן הֵעִיד עָלָיו, ״אַתָּה–כֹהֵן לְעוֹלָם עַל–דִּבְרָתִי מַלְכִּי–צֶדֶק.״
Hebrews 7:17
7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (KJV)
Psalm 110:4
110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek. (KJV)
Genesis 14:18–20
14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. 14:19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: 14:20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. (KJV)
Here in Hebrews 7:17, the Author of Hebrews quotes from the Psalms 110:4 and more specifically from Genesis 14:18-20 regarding this mystery priest who appeared and disappeared in the biblical text. The point is that the priesthood is unknown from which Melchisedec came from, and here Yeshua is said to come from this same priesthood, as a priest of the Most High God. The Author of Hebrews uses the Torah as a proof text. The Torah has not passed away!
