Hebrews 11:4–5
ה בִּזְכוּת אֱמוּנָה לֻקַּח חֲנוֹךְ בְּלִי לִרְאוֹת מָוֶת, ״וְאֵינֶנּוּ, כִּי–לָקַח אֹתוֹ אֱלֹהִים״. (בראשית ה׳ כד׳) וְהוּעַד עָלָיו לִפְנֵי הִלָּקְחוֹ כִּי ״אֶת הָאֱלֹהִים הִתְהַלֵּךְ.״
Hebrews 11:5
5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God. (NASB)
Genesis 5:24
24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. (NASB)
Here in Hebrews 11:5 the author of Hebrews quotes from Genesis 5:24 in regards to Enoch and being taken from this earth because of his righteousness being pleasing before God. These things illustrate how righteousness according to the Torah has great value. The idea here is NOT about our righteousness meriting salvation, but that there is great value living righteously for peace and truth and most of all for the glory of God. The Torah has not passed away!
