Bits of Torah Truths – Paul Taught Not be Yoked with the Sexually Immoral – Episode 82
1 Corinthians 5:9–11
ט כָּתַבְתִּי לָכֶם בָּאִגֶּרֶת שֶׁלֹּא לְהִתְעָרֵב עִם זוֹנִים. י אֵינֶנִּי מִתְכַּוֵּן לַזּוֹנִים בְּנֵי הָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה, אוֹ לַחַמְדָנִים, לַחוֹמְסִים וְעוֹבְדֵי אֱלִילִים, שֶׁכֵּן אָז הֱיִיתֶם חַיָּבִים לָצֵאת מִן הָעוֹלָם. יא אֲבָל כָּתַבְתִּי לָכֶם שֶׁלֹּא לְהִתְעָרֵב עִם מִי שֶׁנִּקְרָא ״אָח״ וְהוּא זוֹנֶה אוֹ חוֹמֵד אֶת אֲשֶׁר לַזּוּלַת, אוֹ עוֹבֵד אֱלִילִים אוֹ מְגַדֵּף אוֹ סוֹבֵא אוֹ חוֹמֵס; אַף אַל תָּסֵבּוּ לֶאֱכֹל עִם אִישׁ כָּזֶה;
1 Corinthians 5:9–11
9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. (KJV)
According to the Torah in Vayikra / Leviticus 20 we see commands to avoid both idolatry and adultery. Here in 1 Corinthians 5:9-11 Paul is teaching Torah taught on these commands to not be yoked with the sexually immoral. The Torah has not passed away.
