Deuteronomy 25:4
ד לֹא־תַחְסֹ֥ם שׁ֖וֹר בְּדִישֽׁוֹ׃
1 Corinthians 9:9–12
ט הֲרֵי בְּתוֹרַת מֹשֶׁה כָּתוּב׃ ״לֹא–תַחְסֹם שׁוֹר בְּדִישׁוֹ.״ (דברים כה׳ ד׳) הַאִם לַשְּׁוָרִים דּוֹאֵג אֱלֹהִים? י אוֹ שֶׁבִּכְלָל לְמַעֲנֵנוּ הוּא אוֹמֵר זֹאת? אָכֵן לְמַעֲנֵנוּ זֶה נִכְתַּב, כְּדֵי שֶׁהַחוֹרֵשׁ יַחֲרֹשׁ בְּתִקְוָה וְהַדָּשׁ יָדוּשׁ בְּתִקְוָה לְהִשְׁתַּתֵּף בַּיְבוּל. יא אִם זָרַעְנוּ לָכֶם דְּבָרִים רוּחָנִיִּים, מָה רְבוּתָא בְּכָךְ אִם נִקְצֹר דְּבָרִים חָמְרִיִּים מִכֶּם? יב וְאִם לַאֲחֵרִים יֵשׁ חֵלֶק בַּזְּכוּת עֲלֵיכֶם, הֲלֹא כָּל שֶׁכֵּן לָנוּ? אֲבָל לֹא נִצַּלְנוּ אֶת הַזְּכוּת הַזֹּאת, אֶלָּא סוֹבְלִים אָנוּ הַכֹּל לְמַעַן לֹא נָשִׂים שׁוּם מִכְשׁוֹל לִבְשׁוֹרַת הַמָּשִׁיחַ.
Romans 2:12
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (KJV)
A midrash is a Jewish Biblical exegesis that seeks to answer questions about the biblical text. Here Paul uses Deuteronomy 25:4 in 1 Corinthians 9:9-12. Paul’s midrash is about partaking in the work they have done for the gospel, like the ox he should get paid. However, he has not taken money in payment for his preaching in order to Not hinder the gospel. Here Paul shows how the Torah has not passed away!
