Titus 3:9

Titus 3:9
3:9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. (NASB)

Paul also instructs us to avoid “arguments about the Torah” in Titus 3:9. This could very well be related to the problem of understanding the place of the Torah in the life of God’s people, just like we see today. Moreover, the Torah and the rest of the Hebrew Bible stress the importance of adhering to God’s commandments and teachings as part of our covenantal relationship with God. This principle underlies the Jewish understanding of the Torah as a guide for life, which is consistent with Paul’s view of avoiding disputes that detract from the core spiritual and moral principles. Paul considers these arguments to be “unprofitable and worthless” because they distract from the central teachings of the Messiah and can lead to unnecessary disputes. The Torah has not passed away!
