Bits of Torah Truths – Enslaved or Free, Torah Concepts on Salvation According to Paul – Episode 115
Galatians 4:24–27
Galatians 4:24–27
4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 4:25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. 4:27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. (KJV)
Isaiah 54:1
54:1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. (KJV)
Here Paul uses the Torah from Genesis 16 and Isaiah 54:1 in Galatians 4:24-27. Paul speaks of Hagar and Sarah, the one woman being a servant, and the other woman being a free woman, and contrasts the covenants between Sinai and in Yeshua. The point he is trying to make is that we are set free from sin in the covenant and faith in Yeshua. The freedom that we are given is the power of God in our lives to overcome sin!
