Acts 15:20
Acts 15:20
15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. (KJV)
Here in Acts 15:20, the NT forbids idolatry. The Torah explicitly prohibits idolatry in the Ten Commandments, which are found in the book of Exodus (sefer Shemot chapter 20). The second commandment states: “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I, Hashem your God, am a jealous God” (Exodus 20:3-5). This commandment is foundational to Jewish monotheism and is reiterated in various forms throughout the Torah, and all of the Scriptures emphasizing the exclusive worship of Hashem and the rejection of all forms of idolatry. This is a Torah based concept that is being taught in the NT. The Torah has not passed away!
