Acts 15:20

Acts 15:20
15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. (KJV)

The text in Acts 15:20 states that we are to stay away from strangled meats. The Torah implies that meat should not be consumed if the animal has been strangled, as this would prevent the proper draining of blood, which is prohibited. This is derived from the Torah such as Leviticus 17:13-14, which state that any animal or bird that is hunted and may be eaten must have its blood poured out and covered with dust. The act of slaughtering an animal with a sharp blade to sever its carotid artery and jugular vein is the Torah based prescribed method to ensure the blood is properly drained. This practice aligns with the broader principle that the consumption of blood is forbidden, as blood is considered the life of all flesh. Note these are Torah based concepts being commanded in the NT text. The Torah has not passed away!
